Free Text Search
The Data Browser provides a Free Text Search, which searches all metadata which is known to have a connection to at least one data point. The search hits include datasets and classifications against Dimensions and Series Attributes. The search result is the Datasets broken down by hit, a search for France for example may result in a hit against a Trade Dataset for both the Exporting Country and Importing Country Dimensions. Clciking on the hit displayes the Series List for the Dataset, pre-filtered based on the selected search result (in this case Trade filtered by Exporting Country of France, or by Importing Country of France, depending on which hit was clicked).
Series Short Code Search
Each Series shown in the Series List page will also show its short code, once expanded, this short code can be used as a quick lookup for the series, using the free text search control. The short code search does not require the dataset identifier, the server searches across all series that share the same number of Dimensions as the given short code (the Dimension delimiter is '.'), for example short code A.SI_DST_03RD_20. would result in a lookup against all Datasets with these two Dimensions.
Wildcards
Short Codes may include wildcards for Dimensions, by simply omitting the value, for example on the Fusion Data Browser Demo Site, DE.BWA._Z.D5._Z._T._Z._Z._Z._Z._Z._Z._Z._Z._Z._Z._U.THOUSANDS would result in a single series hit, unless there are two datasets with the same short code.
Whereas DE.BWA..........._Z._Z._Z._Z._U.THOUSANDS will result in multiple series hits which match the filter with both the 2nd and 3rd Dimensions wildcarded.
